"Kenyans want to know whether the MPs are with them or against them.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will push for an open ballot voting system for the proposed Finance Bill 2023.

Speaking on Friday, May 26 in Machakos, Kalonzo stated that an open voting system will show Kenyans members of parliament who are out to oppress them.

“We will push for an open voting method where one name is called out and he or she openly affirms yes or no. Kenyans want to know whether the MPs are with them or against them,” said Kalonzo.

The Wiper leader also asked MPs from both the Azimio and Kenya Kwanza coalitions to oppose the Finance Bill 2023 in totality.

“We ask all members of parliament regardless of political affiliations to stand with the people of Kenya and reject the bill in its totality line by line,” Kalonzo added.

This comes days after President William Ruto held a Kenya Kwanza parliamentary group meeting at State House and called on the lawmakers to pass the Finance Bill 2023.

Some of the proposals in the bill are a 35 percent income tax on all Kenyans earning above five hundred thousand shillings and 3 percent deductions on all employees’ basic salary towards the National Housing Development Fund, which will be matched by another 3 percent from the employer.
