Reverend Sammy Wainaina is slated to take up his new position in London, United Kingdom.

The faithful of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) is congregating at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi to bid farewell to Reverend Sammy Wainaina.

Wainaina who assumed the provost post in 2013 is slated to take his new position in the United Kingdom.

He was appointed the advisor of Anglican Communion affairs for Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby.

To lead the ACK faithful in bidding Wainaina fare well was the church's top cleric Jackson Ole Sapit.

Sapit hailed the outgoing provost for his successful tenure at the church.

He went on to wish Wainaina good luck as he embarks on his new post in London.

Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit led the faithful of ACK in bidding Reverend Sammy Wainaina farewell.

"We will miss you. All the best in your next assignment," he said.

On his part, Wainaina said serving as a provost at the cathedral was the highlight of over 20 years journey as a gospel minister.

He thanked the church for according him the support he need to be the personality he is today.

"You peope have made me to be the leader I am and the minister of gospel of God. Thank you very much for such an opportunity," he said.

He was ordained in 1996 in Nakuru Diocese and has been in the religious ministry for over 25 years, serving in different capacities.

Some of the positions he has held include; vicar, Archdeacon, Assistant Provost, and the Provost - a position he assumed in 2013 and is still serving to date.
