Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol was impeached on Monday after thirty-eight out of forty-two MCAs voted in support of an impeachment motion that had been tabled by Asembo East MCA Gordon Onguru.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has faulted Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga over the impeachment of Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol.

Cherargei in a statement on Monday, May 29 accused the former Prime Minister of being behind Oduol's impeachment.

He stated that the Senate will not approve the impeachment proceedings against the Siaya Deputy Governor.

“The impeachment proceedings & removal from ODM party of Siaya Deputy Governor H.E Oduol by Raila Odinga is sickening & nauseating for exposing corruption in Siaya County government.

“As a senate, we shall not impeach DG Oduol nor confirm impeachment proceedings from Siaya county assembly against him. This once again has confirmed Raila as Lord of corruption, poverty, and impunity,” Cherargei tweeted.

Oduol was impeached on Monday after thirty-eight out of forty-two MCAs voted in support of an impeachment motion that had been tabled by Asembo East MCA Gordon Onguru.

He was accused of alleged interference with the procurement process, abuse of office and gross misconduct, misuse of public resources, and misleading the public by giving false information.

The ODM Party on Sunday expelled Oduol from the party accusing him of working with the Kenya Kwanza government to sabotage the ODM party's interests.
