ODM leader Raila Odinga's diehard supporter Calvin Okoth Otieno alias "Gaucho" has been released after appearing before Kiambu Law Courts on Tuesday, May 30.
In an update by DCI on Tuesday evening, Gaucho was released on a Sh5000 cash bail after denying charges of causing disturbance.
"Earlier today, Calvin Okoth Otieno alias "Gaucho" was arraigned before Kiambu law courts on charges of creating disturbance contrary to section 95 (1)(b) of the penal code. The suspect pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh20,000 bond or cash bail of Sh5,000," part of the statement by DCI read.
A section of Azimio leaders led by Eugene Wamalwa has claimed that Gaucho and Maina Njenga are being targeted by police officers because they are staunch supporters of Odinga.
“Gaucho was arrested after he made a statement at the Jubilee National Delegates Conference (NDC). He has been in custody since yesterday and we want to follow up to ensure he is released today.
"Maina Njenga just because he came out to support Raila Odinga, he went all the way to Njambini. They have arrested him and he is currently in Nakuru trying to get back his freedom,” Wamalwa alleged.
