"The Ministry through the regional and county offices and the school's management, has provided guidance and support to the bereaved families in pursuing these claims for payment," he said.

Machogu further promised to fund the institution to build new classrooms and laboratories in the coming financial year.

He was responding to a question from Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale who requested the CS to grant the institution an extra Sh20 million.

“The current infrastructure concerning classrooms and laboratories at Mukumu was built for 1,000 students. Today the population has swollen to 2,000. We urgently need Sh20 million to fix the classrooms and laboratories. Please, could you offer us this emergency support?” Khalwale posed.

The CS said the ministry had purchased a 12-acre piece of land across the school to address the overpopulation issue further.
