Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has affirmed that the Government will not back down on its resolve to weed out all rogue preachers. 

In a statement to newsrooms on Sunday, June 4, CS Kithure announced that the taskforce formed by President William Ruto to review the framework of religious organisations in Kenya would start public hearings on Monday, June 5. 

The Interior CS urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers and give their candid opinions. 

"The task force that was established by President William Ruto to review and regulate frameworks governing religious organisations in Kenya begins its public hearings tomorrow. I urge all Kenyans to candidly, honestly, and objectively submit their views to the 17-member team chaired by Rev. Mutava Musyimi.

"The Government will not back down on the resolve to weed out all rogue preachers who are using the Holy scriptures to mislead, radicalise, and indoctrinate their followers," part of the statement read.

The CS added, "The operation on criminals hiding behind religion is not a war against any faith or institution. Crime knows no religion." 

At the same time, Kindiki stated that the third phase of exhumation of bodies at Shakahola Forest would commence on Monday, June 5. 

“We have lost many people and exhumed 242 bodies so far, of people who were starved to death, hit with blunt and sharp objects or strangled,” he stated.
