Former LSK President Nelson Havi has denied being in the race for the position of Director of Public Prosecution. 

Responding to a publication that had listed him among the potential contenders for the DPP post, Havi denied lobbying for the post.

The lawyer said he has no interest in the position and will not even apply if advertised.

"The DPP is appointed from interviewed candidates. I am not lobbying for the appointment, will not respond to the call for applications when it is made, nor will I be a candidate in the interviews," he said in a post on Facebook.

Havi went on to say he is satisfied with his role of serving Kenyans as a practising lawyer.

The lawyer, who was recently appointed as the chair of the Retirement Benefits Authority said he is focused on his private practice and serving Kenyans as the chair of RBA.

"I am diligently offering legal services through my firm Havi & Company Advocates, and have no intention of exiting private legal practice for the Office of DPP. I continue to serve the public in my capacity as Chairman of, the Retirement Benefits Authority with dignity and honour," he said.

The DPP position is on the verge of falling vacant following the appointment of Noordin Haji as the Director General of the National Intelligence Service.

The office is an independent one according to Kenya's 2010 constitution.
