The incident took place on Thursday, June 1 along Nairobi's Ngong Road.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended suspects who were captured on CCTV footage robbing a foreigner along Nairobi’s Ngong Road. 

In a statement via Twitter on Wednesday, June 14, Sakaja stated that the DCI will issue more information on the arrest of the suspects. 

“Thank you DCI_Kenya for your action. These culprits have been nabbed by the DCI who will give further details of their action. We are grateful for the continued partnership in securing our County,” said Sakaja.

In the CCTV footage, the main suspect was seen sneaking behind three female foreigners before snatching a sling bag from one of them which had been strapped around her neck, and running towards a getaway motorbike that was waiting for him meters from the incident.  

The robbery appears to be a well-coordinated incident involving three motorbikes which had around seven individuals.

The CCTV footage which has gone viral on social media has caused uproar among Kenyans who are calling for the security authorities to bring the culprits to book.
