“If this government is not serving us, we can be able to bring it to an end before the end of the five-year term that they think they have to serve."

Jubilee Party leaders allied to the Azimio la Umoja coalition have threatened to impeach President William Ruto over failing to lower the high cost of living.

Speaking on Saturday, June 17 in Kiambu County, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni stated that it is not mandatory for President Ruto to serve for five years if he is not useful to Kenyans.

“If this government is not serving us, we can be able to bring it to an end before the end of the five-year term that they think they have to serve. It is not mandatory that you must remain in State House for five years. We can make your stay shorter if you are not useful to Kenyans,” he stated.

The Former Ndaragwa MP argued that the cost of living is unbearable and the new tax measures in the Finance bill would cripple businesses from the Mt Kenya region.

“The cost of living is unbearable, the taxation measures that were put in place in the Finance Bill are going to cripple most of the businesses in Mt Kenya. We are already seeing the desperation among people, this bill is going to make it worse,” Kioni stated.

The Jubilee Secretary General also claimed that the government no longer issues social protection and NHIF support and no one is voicing this in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Former Nyeri County Deputy Governor Caroline Wanjiru echoed Kioni’s remarks, saying the Mt Kenya women will have to call out the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“The cost of living is unbearable for the regular Mwananchi and especially we as women of Mt Kenya are getting to a place we will have to tell this government enough is enough,” she stated.
