“Your excellency I am sorry. Ni uchungu ya hawa watoto.”

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja on Tuesday, June 20 broke into tears while delivering his speech during the launch of the Nairobi County School Feeding Programme.

Sakaja who was speaking before President William Ruto paused for a moment to shed tears before he continued giving his speech.

“Your Excellency I am sorry. Ni uchungu ya hawa watoto,” Sakaja stated.

The Nairobi Governor went on to note that the feeding programme must work for children from poor households in Nairobi County to have the opportunity to have free lunch in schools.

Sakaja also commended President Ruto for supporting the feeding programme noting that the children would remember him the same late President Daniel Moi is renowned for Nyayo milk.

“Thank you for supporting me in we are going to deliver and one day vile wanakumbuka maziwa ya nyayo watakumbuka chakula ya Ruto,” he stated.

President Ruto on his part stated that the government would increase the number of primary school children under the school feeding programme from 1.6 Million to four million.

“We are going to increase the number of children in our primary schools under the school feeding programme from 1.6 million children to 4 million children,” he stated.
