Trade CS Moses Kuria has been barred from using insulting remarks on any media practitioner. 

The High Court has issued an injunction barring Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria from using derogatory statements against any media practitioner.

Justice Lawrence Mugambi issued the order on Wednesday, June 21 following a petition applied by human rights defender Charles Mugane.

"Pending the hearing and determination of this application an injunction be and is hereby issued against the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industries the Hon. Moses Kuria preventing him from uttering and expressing any insulting, demeaning. Belittling, condescending, disdainful, disparaging or vilifying words against any Media Practitioner(s) within the meaning of Article 34 of the Constitution of Kenya,” the order read in part.

Justice Mugambi also directed the application to be served to CS Kuria within three days and responses to the petition to be done within seven days.

The case will be mentioned on July 24, 2023.

This comes after CS Kuria attacked the Nation Media Group on Sunday and warned fired a warning to government agencies saying whoever will advertise with the media house will be shown the door.

CS Kuria on Wednesday stated that he will not apologize to the media house for his remarks.

“I am not apologizing. I have been a media owner before, I have been a writer in your newspapers, there is nobody who is pro-media more than me,” Kuria stated.
