The Nairobi City Marathon was slated to take place on May 21 but was postponed to July 2.

Race Director Ibrahim Hussein while addressing the media on May 11 stated that the event was moved due to a congestion of races that were taking place at the time.

"The reason we are moving this event is because when we analysed the races that are taking place all over the globe, we found out that many of our athletes ran in April while others are competing in May. We have therefore agreed to move the event to July to accommodate top athletes," he stated.
