Kindiki's statement comes hours after more than fifty people died in a grisly road accident at Londiani junction. 

Interior CS Kindiki Kithure has directed all police officers to enforce traffic rules firmly and apprehend all offenders flouting traffic rules.

In a statement on Friday, July 30 Kindiki noted that all road users must strictly adhere to traffic rules. 

"Police officers across the country are directed to enforce traffic rules firmly and apprehend all offenders flouting traffic rules, including but not limited to those driving defective and unroadworthy motor vehicles," part of the statement read. 

He added," The fatal road accident at Londiani Junction in Kericho County this Friday evening is a tragedy that marks a dark end to the month of June 2023. Heartfelt condolences to families and friends of the deceased. Speedy recovery to all survivors of the accident, who are receiving medical care in various facilities in Kericho and Nakuru Counties.

"I urge all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules. I particularly appeal to drivers to exercise extreme caution, and desist from speeding, overloading, and dangerous or careless driving."

The 6:30 PM accident occurred after a truck lost control and ran over pedestrians and rammed more than six vehicles.

One of the doctors on duty at Londiani Hospital Dr. Collins Kipkoech confirmed that they had received over 45 bodies in the hospital.
