A red carpet had been rolled out, tents laid and all set for the Iranian President who has failed to visit.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's key meeting with President William Ruto set for Tuesday has been rescheduled.

Sources aware of the developments told Nairobi Leo the press conference convened by State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam for the two leaders will not be happening.

The press conference had been planned to start at 9 am.

Speaking to this journalist, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed confirmed that the visit had been rescheduled to a later date.

A red carpet had been rolled out, tents laid and all set for the Iranian President's visit only to be established that the Guest of honour was not forthcoming.

It was announced a few days ago that Raisi was to visit Kenya for the first time in 11 years.

President William Ruto had invited Raisi to the country for a three-day visit during which it was expected that talks will be held to boost trade relations.

The cancellation at the 11th hour has seen senior officials of the State House fingered for the mess with President Ruto said to have been angered by the alleged mishandling of the visit which is being blamed for the failed visit.
