The Kimugu water project is worth Ksh 1.2 billion and was constructed through a joint partnership between the national and the Kericho county government.

According to Kericho Governor Eric Mutai, the project will supply 13 million litres of water daily to over 200,000 households in Ainamoi, Belgut, and Kipkelion East constituencies.

The project which commenced in 2016 will also assist water supply in Kericho town and supplement the existing Kapcheptoror Water Project which currently supplies water in Kericho town.
