Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has opened up on details of his arrest that saw him placed in custody over 24 hours without being arraigned.

In a video recording that he shared on his social media handle, Babu claimed he was treated in an inhumane manner since his arrest at JKIA on Tuesday, June 18 around 8pm.

"I was handcuffed, blindfolded and thrown in a boot of a Subaru car," he said.

The MP further says he was driven in the middle of nowhere and put in a solitary consignment.

"For three days, I wasn't given food, no access to my family, lawyers and legal representatives. I did not take a bath or water. That was a very inhumane treatment accorded to me," he said.

The MP who was later discovered at Wanguru Police Station in Mwea Kirinyaga County regretted the incidents and said the treatment he was accorded is a testament to brutality in the service.

"If a member of Parliament can be treated in such a harsh way, what is happening to normal Kenyans?" Babu posed.

"I want to take this opportunity to condemn such acts. The only mistake I made was to fight for Kenyans. And as a leader, an elected member of Parliament I am a voice to the voiceless."

Despite the alleged harrowing experience, Babu has vowed to keep the fire burning saying he will not stop fighting for the ordinary citizens.

"I'm a messenger. You can kill the messenger but you can never kill the message. You can harass the messenger but you will never destroy the message that is delivered," he said.

"If fighting for Kenyans is what will cost my life, so be it."
