The defection of political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi to President William Ruto's camp after supporting former President Uhuru Kenyatta for years has received mixed reactions among Kenyans.

The analyst on Monday laid it bare that he will henceforth root for Ruto's agenda.

"I have defected to William Ruto. I misjudged him using the dynasty lens. But if the facts change, you must change your mind," Ngunyi tweeted.

"And only a fool does not change his mind. I started Project hustler nation. Now I must complete it. Iko swali?"

Defence CS Aden Duale is among the top leaders who weighed into the defection welcoming the political analyst to Ruto's camp.

Duale welcomed the news and requested the analyst to explain how he supported the dynasty yet he is a hustler.

"Mr Mutahi my friend, only Fools don't change their mind but tell us the story of how a hustler (Mutahi) defended a dynasty with his blood. Karibu Hustler nation," Duale tweeted.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi on his part took a swipe at the analyst saying his defection is worthless.

"Prof, you were ordered or told to hate William Ruto. You were not strong or smart enough to think for yourself. The defection of a poodle is worthless. We are only interested in that of the master!" he fired back at Ngunyi.
