The driver of the vehicle is said to have lost control of the vehicle and hit an electricity transformer.

At least one person has died in a road accident in the Sikata area along the Webuye-Malaba Highway. 

The Wednesday morning accident happened after a fuel tanker hit an electricity pole and burst into flames.

Nairobi Leo has learnt that the deceased victim is the driver of the tanker. He is said to have been burnt to death beyond recognition. 

"The driver was seemingly heading to Malaba. He lost control of the fuel tanker and hit a transformer leading to the accident," a witness of the accident said. 

Videos seen by Nairobi Leo showed a huge smoke renting the air.  A crowd of people could also be spotted at a distance witnessing the unfolding events.

The tanker had occupied nearly all parts of the road hence blocking access.

Firefighters have been deployed at the scene to contain the situation.

Drivers using the road have been asked to exercise caution as they ply the route.
