Babu Owino will miss four National Assembly sittings.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has on Thursday, August 10 been suspended from the National Assembly.

The vocal ODM lawmaker will miss four National Assembly sittings after he conducted himself in a disorderly manner.

It started when Owino shouted at National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei over the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA) leadership.

The Deputy Speaker directed Owino not to shout at her and withdraw his remarks.

“Honorable Babu Owino you are out of order. You do not shout at me…you better withdraw your remarks,” Shollei stated.

The ODM MP continued to engage Shollei forcing Soy MP David Kiplagat to defend the National Assembly Deputy Speaker.

To prevent the situation from getting out of hand Shollei suspended Owino over his conduct.

“Honorable Babu Owino, I will read for you Standing Orders 107 and 107a. If a member commits an act of disorderly conduct, creates disorder or knowingly raises a false point of order, or unnecessarily interrupts proceedings the Speaker may call a member whose conduct is disorderly to order or caution or order the member to withdraw from the presence of the assembly for a maximum of four days,” the Deputy Speaker read.

Shollei then directed the National Assembly Seargent at Arm to escort the Embakasi East Mp out of the Parliament buildings.

“Seargent at Arm can you escort him out? You will not come to the precincts of Parliament for four days,” Shollei added.
