The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has given an update on power restoration.

Kenyans were plunged into a nationwide blackout on Friday, August 25.

The outage extended to the better of Saturday, August 26.

In a statement in the course of the day, the electricity utility company reported successful restoration in various parts of the country.

By noon, power had been restored in most parts of the country including Kiambu, Nyeri, Meru, Murang'a, Embu, Isiolo, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Kericho, and Bomet.

Others were Nyandarua, Samburu, Kisumu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Siaya, Busia, Kisii, Migori, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kitale, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Machakos, Makueni and parts of Nairobi.

While maintaining its apology, the electricity utility company announced that works were underway to bring back power in the remaining parts of the country.

"We are working to restore the remaining areas and we shall update once the remaining generating plants are back. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused and we thank them for their patience," it said.
