Addressing the media on Wednesday, Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju noted that in the spirit of the handshake, the party will not field a candidate in Matungu, Kabuchai and Machakos.

“With respect to participation in the forthcoming by elections, Jubilee is not to participate in by elections of Machakos, Matungu and Kabuchai. We are currently enjoying a period of constructive engagement with Wiper, ODM, Ford-Kenya and ANC within BBI.

“It is the decision of Jubilee Party, that given the bigger picture of bringing this country together through the BBI avenue, ceding ground to the NASA parties in this instance is essential to ensuring that we do not open unnecessary arenas,” he said.

Regarding the Nairobi by-election, Tuju noted that the party is keenly following the case at the High Court and will announce a way forward once a ruling is delivered.

“As for Nairobi governor seat, we are on standby mode, as the matter plays out in High court and the Nairobi County Assembly. We will be fielding candidates in the ward by elections in counties,” he divulged.
