A section of Kenyans has slammed Mutua over his remarks on the ouster of five rebel ODM MPs.

Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO Ezekiel Mutua has found himself under czar criticism over his remarks on the ouster of five rebel ODM MPs.

The ODM party on Wednesday recommended the ouster of five MPs for advancing the agenda of the rival political party.

The five ousted are Elisha Ochieng’ Odhiambo (Gem), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Tom Ojienda (Senator of Kisumu County) and Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe (Lang’ata).

Reacting to the ouster, Mutua blasted the ODM party accusing it of limiting the freedom of association.

"The expulsion of ODM MPs working with the government is wrong and undermines democracy. It's a contradiction in terms to talk of freedom of expression when one cannot tolerate dissent," he said in a message on his X platform.

"Sad to see people like Kabando Wa Kabando who claim to be social democrats support the injustice."

President William Ruto in a meeting with Luo leaders including those expelled from the ODM party.

Kabando in a message on the X platform backed the expulsion of the MPs saying they are mandated to be loyal to parties that took them to office.

The message by Mutu has elicited sharp criticism on social media with a section of Kenyans turning the heat on him.
