The visit comes a day after Kenya hosted the African Climate Summit.

President William Ruto has flown to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to attend the ongoing Africa Food Systems Summit.

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed in a statement on Thursday, September 7 said President Ruto will join other African Heads of State to discuss food security and sustainability for the African continent and world, among other issues.

“President William Ruto among other Heads of State and Government attending the 13th Africa Food Systems Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania today to discuss crucial issues of food security, sustainability, and innovation,” Mohammed said.

The Summit, which is being held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC), is themed "Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa's Solutions for Food Systems Transformation".

The food systems summit will also focus on building back better food systems and food sovereignty with youth and women at the center.

The summit comes a day after Kenya hosted the African Climate Summit (ACS) in Nairobi, attended by at least 17 African heads of state.

The United Nations Secretary-General and the President of the European Union also attended the summit, which was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
