Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday, September 22 made an impromptu visit to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) headquarters in Nairobi.
According to communication from the Transport Ministry, CS Murkomen was probing delays in the processing and issuance of DLs, logbooks, and digital number plates.
One of the motorists who was queuing for services approached CS Murkomen narrating the situation at the NTSA headquarters.
He claimed to have received two messages from the NTSA informing him to collect the new digital number plates, but when he arrived, he was told that the plates were not ready for collection.
Murkomen’s visit comes a week after Interior CS Kithure Kindiki made a series of impromptu visits to Nyayo House to probe the passport processing delays in the Department of Immigration.
During the visit, CS Kithure held a meeting with senior Immigration State Department officers and engaged Kenyans who had come to both collect and have their passports processed.
The Interior CS affirmed that this Government will eradicate corruption at Nyayo House and ensure efficiency in the printing and collecting of passports.
