"I have received requests from my colleague Mithika Linturi and the Meru Leadership to postpone due to the prevailing political situation in Meru."

Cabinet Secretary For Trade and Industry now claims there were requests from some leaders in Meru County to postpone the groundbreaking ceremony of the industrial park set for take-off on Monday.

The CS who has been on a mission to launch industrial parks in various parts of the country said his colleague Mithika Linturi is among the leaders who implored him to call off the event.

According to the trade CS, the calls to suspend the event were due to ongoing leadership wrangles in the county that have now seen several leaders gang up against Meru governor  Kawira Mwangaza.

"Tomorrow (Monday) I ground break in the great Meru County. I have received requests from my colleague Mithika Linturi and the Meru Leadership to postpone due to the prevailing political situation in Meru," CS Kuria said.

The CS however says he turned down the request owing to the urgent need to solve poverty and joblessness facing many youths in the country.

"With profound respect, I will not postpone. The joblessness and poverty facing our people can not wait for even one hour as we fix our broken politics," the CS said.

CS Kuria has so far launched the County Aggregation & Industrial Parks in Busia, Kakamega, Bumgoma, Trans Nzoia, Migori, Siaya, Kisii, Nyamira, Mombasa, Kajiado, Narok and Laikipia Counties.

Governor Mwangaza is in the eye of the storm considering the MCAs have launched the process of kicking her out of office.

The Governor has already fallen out with his deputy Isaac Mutuma who has accused her of harassment and denying him an opportunity to serve.
