Kabando denied Raila Odinga is an enemy of the Mt Kenya people, this as President Ruto expressed camaraderie with the Azimio leader.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has counselled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to embrace statesmanship in his undertaking as the principal assistant to President William Ruto.

Kabando tested the deputy president's supposed attacks on former prime minister Raila Odinga, who has constantly been painted in bad light among the Mt Kenya people.

He said Raila had never been an enemy of the mountaineers as portrayed by the deputy president.

"Dear my people of Mt.Kenya region: as I've spoken and written often, Raila Odinga was never, is not, and shall never be our enemy. Kenya is only 2 tribes - one, merchants of graft and two, victims of corruption. Looters use RAO as a bogeyman to stir ethnic paranoia, to dominate us," said Kabando.

Kabando said the hate against Raila driven in Mt Kenya was unnecessary.

"Dear DP, Sir, I am forever grateful for your kind consideration for the UDA ticket. Today, I'd be Nyeri senator. But I lost pretty. I respect you, but I most vehemently disagree with your continued alienating politics of ethnic bigotry and Raila-hate. Please stop it. Be a statesman," he said.

Meanwhile, Ruto in a rare show camaraderie in his Nyanza Tour on Saturday described ODM leader Raila Odinga as his ally

Ruto who had pitched a tent in the Homa Bay County to launch Victoria Fish Farm in Suba South rekindled moments he walked with the ODM leader politically during their days in the ODM party.

He said for Raila to become Prime Minister in 2007, Ruto said he worked hard to ensure he bags the requisite votes.

"Si ata nyinyi mnajua nilikuwa mtu wa baba. Ili raila aitwe former Prime Minister, hiyo kiti nani alimtafutia? Si ni mimi na watu wengine?" Ruto said.
