The war of words started after Senator Cherargei and CS Murkomen clashed over tenders at a burial in Nandi.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has fired back at Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen after he disparaged him over tender issues.

In a stament on his X platform, Cherargei said he will not be intimidated by anyone even as he defends the interests of the Nandi people.

" As the senator of "akili kidogo" of the Great people of Nandi County I shall always defend with my blood and sweat their interests without fear of intimidation, blackmail, coercion or political patronage!" he tweeted.

The CS while at a funeral in Chesumei Constituency in Nandi County hit out at Cherargei after he demanded that contracts should be given to sons and daughters of the soil first.

Speaking in the Kalenjin dialect at the burial of Chesumei MP Paul Biego Polo's son, Cherargei asked Murkomen to prioritises the sons of the soil in awarding the tenders.

"I hear that some people are saying they want to bring in people from other communities to be contractors," he said.

"Give our children priority to be contractors because if we don't teach our children to be strong contractors, we will not be competitive."

Seemingly disappointed by Cherargei remarks, Murkomen told him off saying equality is what matters.

"What about our people who we have given big contracts and who owe us billions and who are in Central and Mombasa? Do you want them to be chased to come home? As your former teacher, I have brains and a plan," Murkomen said.

He went on to insinuate that the Senator's reasons lowers the bar on the status of his reasoning capacity.

“I want to teach you something. If the President was using a brain like yours, we would not be having the country now,” CS Murkomen further stated.
