Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has ordered security agencies to crackdown these politicians and religious leaders.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has ordered a crackdown on all politicians and religious leaders who are enabling banditry in the country.

In a statement on Wednesday, November 1, Kindiki said the crackdown will also extend to key planners and commanders of the bandit attacks.

“Security agencies are instructed to crackdown on all political, commercial and spiritual enablers of banditry as well as key planners and commanders of bandit attacks,” he stated.

Kindiki at the same time noted that security agencies have made significant strides towards suppression of violent banditry in the North Rift Valley Region.

“Eight months after deployment of Operation Maliza Uhalifu forces, the Government is continously engaged in monitoring the successes and challenges of the operation, so as to address any gaps for a sustained program for eradicating the terror of armed livestock robbers who have caused loss of lives and property of innocent Kenyans for decades,” Kindiki continued.

The Interior CS also observed that banditry in most parts of Samburu County has been contained with huge success being registered in Baragoi which has been a hotbed of crime.

Kindiki further pointed out that the government is committed in sustaining Maliza Uhalifu Operation for the total eradication of banditry and livestock rustling in Northern Kenya.

Kindiki’s directive comes days after bandits attacked Kapindasum Primary School and a neighboring General Service Unit (GSU) camp in Baringo County.

The bandits surrounded the camp and primary school and exchanged fire with police officers for more than two hours.
