Immigration and Citizen Services Principal Secretary Julius Bitok has announced that the government will open a new Immigration office in Kericho County.

In a statement on Friday, November 3, Bitok said South Rift residents will not have to travel for long distances to acquire passports starting from 2024.

“Starting next year, I am delighted to announce that South Rift residents will no longer endure lengthy journeys in order to acquire passports and other essential travel documents. Today, I am thrilled to unveil our plan for a new Immigration office in Kericho town,” Bitok stated.

The Immigration PS went on to noted that the new office which will be based at Ardhi House in Kericho will reduce strain on Kisumu and Eldoret regional offices.

“This forthcoming Immigration office, which will be situated in Ardhi House Kericho, is set to alleviate the strain on our Kisumu and Eldoret regional offices,” PS Bitok added.

“Not only will it enhance our services, but it will also bring about substantial savings in terms of both time and travel expenses for our valued applicants.”

Bitok’s announcement comes after the Civil Registration Services desk at the Kericho Huduma Centre.

He was accompanied by Kericho Senator, Aaron Cheruiyot and Ainamoi Member of Parliament Benjamin Langat.
