The deceased’s brother Daniel Karaba said he had expressed fears about his life.


A police officer based at Embakasi Area, Nairobi, has been found dead in a coffee plantation that is a few meters away from his house in Ndia, Kirinyaga County.

Kirinyaga West sub-county police commander Moses Koskei confirmed the death.

He said the body of Timothy Mwangi Ciira, aged 42, had several cuts on the head. 

The deceased’s brother Daniel Karaba said he had expressed fears about his life.

He said unknown people had been calling him and threatened to kill him.

The brother said he lived alone in his house which is surrounded by his uncle's coffee plantation.

The brother confirmed that the officer works in the Embakasi area further revealing that he separated from his wife.

Kirinyaga residents at the scene where the officer was found dead.

“We left each other at around 10pm. I was shocked that my brother's body was discovered in my uncle's coffee plantation with serious head injuries.”

Witnesses who saw his remains said the officer had been slaughtered to death.

"Alikua amekatwakatwa kichwa. Alikua amedungwa na visu shingo. Alikua askari Embakasi. Sijui kama alikua amekuja likizo (He had been slaughtered on the head. He also had stab wounds in. He was a police officer in Embakasi. I am not sure if he was on leave)," a neighbor who saw the body said.

Another resident who was with the officer on the night before his murder expressed shock on the turn of events.

"Nimeshtuka sana kwa sababu mwenye ameuliwa tulikua na yeye jana kwa sababu tulikua tumeonana mahali. Lakini sasa kitu ya kunishtua ni kwamba ameuliwa na akatupwa huko kwa kahawa (I am so shocked because the one who was murdered was with me somewhere last evening. What has shocked me more is that he was killed and dumped in the Coffee thicket)," a friend said.

The deceased body was taken to Kerugoya Referral Hospital pending autopsy.
