“I can assure you with absolute confidence there is no single genuine paper that can circulate on those social media platforms."

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) CEO David Njengere has dismissed reports of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) papers being circulated on social media platforms.

Speaking on Monday November 13, Njegere said the papers being circulated are fake and are mean to deceive KCSE candidates.

“I can assure you with absolute confidence there is no single genuine paper that can circulate on those social media platforms. All they have is fake papers,” said Njegere.

The KNEC CEO explained that the individuals behind the fake KCSE papers share the papers when that particular examination is being done.

“What some of those social media fellows do is colluding with somebody somewhere and look for an image of a paper which is being done and they will try to share it on Telegram,” he added.

Njegere further said KENC is working with the Ministry of ICT to ensure the culprits behind the fake papers have been dealt with.

His remarks come days after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested six people who were operating various Telegram accounts and selling fake KCSE papers.

''Six social media admins for various Telegram sites involved in examination malpractices in the ongoing KCSE national examinations have been arrested in the ongoing crackdown on perpetrators,'' DCI said in a statement on November 6.

The KCSE exams commenced on October 23 with practical papers and will run for a whole month till the end of November.
