Kenya was beaten 2-1 by the host country Gabon in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has apologised to Kenyans after KBC failed to show the football match between Gabon Versus Kenya.

The CS had promised Kenyans that they would watch the 2026 World Cup qualifiers via the State broadcaster.

"I am delighted to announce that the Harambee Stars vs Gabon 2026 World Cup qualifier game tonight will be broadcast live by KBC channel 1," Ababu stated.

Harambee Stars Players.

"Kenyans deserve to witness this historic moment live, tune in from 7.00 pm East African Time, and cheer on our boys," the CS stated as he rallied Kenyans to tune in.

The promise however did not see the light of day resulting in massive complaints among Kenyans who were much determined to watch the game.

This led to the CS apologizing to Kenyans even as he sought to explain what transpired.

He said the State broadcaster experienced satellite issues that led to its failure to broadcast the match.

"Last night KBC Channel 1 TV let down Kenyan fans with satellite difficulties that occasioned failure to screen the Harambee Stars game vs Gabon in Franceville," he said.

"We owe Kenyans a sincere, unequivocal, and unambiguous apology for this disappointment. You sure deserve better. Poleni Sana."

The Kenya Versus Gabon match ended 2-1 in favor of Gabon.
