Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has termed the final bipartisan report as imperfect and unfinished.

Addressing the media on Wednesday November 29, Raila said the report failed to address the high cost of living in the country.

“The two teams were not able to agree on the need and means to lower the cost of living this is why we have described the document the committee present and imperfect and unfinished,” said Raila.

The former Prime Minister noted that the opposition will treat the hardline on addressing the cost of living as another phase for struggle.

Raila mentioned that Azimio will seek other ways of pressuring the Kenya Kwanza government to reduces the cost of living including consultation with the public. 

"We will seek other ways to press the government to listen to the cries of the people and bring down the cost of living.

"Other ways will not be limited to consulation with the people. At all times we will retain the right to call out the people to take steps that will deem necessary to force the government to lower the cost of living," said Raila.

The ODM leader at the same time pointed out that the Azimio coalition was able get positive results from a number of issues they had set out.  

"This include electoral justice which encapsulates audit of the 2022 elections, restructuring of the IEBC, increasing the timelines of the Supreme Court to hear and determine a presidential petition from 14 to 21 days and commitment to multiple party democracy," the opposition chief stated. 

Raila observed that the issued if implemented will help to strengthen governance and the electoral process. 

He further stated that the creation of the office of the leader of opposition and office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary needs a referendum to avoid mischevious individuals from blocking the report by moving to court. 

"Besides it is constitutional requirement that such significant restructure of government must go through referendum to avoid mischievousness that may be played by some people going to court," Raila continued.
