Moreover, the Kenya Red Cross announced that it was offering psychosocial Support to other passengers who had escaped unhurt.

By the time of this publication, the cause of the accident had not been reported.

However, Security officers were also in sight helping to clear traffic.

The latest accident happened close to six months after 52 people lost their lives on the same highway. This was after a trailer rammed into roadside shades occupied by traders along the road.

Responding to the accident, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen announced on July 1 that no such accidents would be witnessed in the country.

The CS ordered for the traders to be removed and bumps erected on that section of the highway.

“Unfortunately, all the victims were trading on the roadside market and the others were boarding vehicles at the roadside car park,” he stated.

“All markets along the road reserve should be relocated. County governments in partnership with the national government through the intergovernmental framework should construct markets off the highways even as KeNHA constructs access roads to the markets.”
