A class eight pupil has committed suicide following a row regarding a mobile phone.

The incident occurred in Kasibos village in Homa Bay county.

Reports indicate that the minor was found dead behind his parent’s house hours after his father refused to give him back his phone.

The boy's father is believed to have taken away the phone to use it temporarily until he replaced his which was faulty.

The father was supposed to have bought a phone by Wednesday but did not hand the phone back as agreed.

Rachuonyo North Sub-county police commander Sara Chumo confirmed the incident but said no suicide note had been left behind.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Kendu Adventist Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
