The closure will commence on December 27, 2023, to January 23, 2024.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass between Lang'ata Interchange and Ngong Interchange from December 27, 2023, to January 23, 2024.

In a public notice on Wednesday, December 27, KeNHA said the closure will allow construction works for the installation of a virtual weighbridge along the section.

“The closure will commence this December 27, 2023 to January 23, 2024. This is to allow for construction works for installation of Virtual Weighbridge along the section. To minimize the traffic disruption, the closure will involve one lane of each carriageway at a time,” read the statement in part.

The authority however noted that motorists are required to use one lane of each carriageway on both bounds.

“Road users are urged to exercise caution as they approach the section and to follow the traffic signs and guidance in place,” KeNHA added.

This comes after the authority closed the Nairobi Expressway in Mlolongo Station for 12 hours temporarily on Wednesday.

The closure of Mlolongo Station was sanctioned to help the company carry out extensive maintenance on that section of the road.

"Due to scheduled pavement maintenance from Mlolongo Toll Station entrance to Syokimau Toll Station, we will temporarily close the Mlolongo Entrance," read part of the statement.

"Kindly use the Syokimau entrance when heading to Nairobi CBD from Mlolongo," the notice added.
