Efforts to rescue the family at dawn on Saturday, December 30, did not bear fruit.

A Saturday dawn inferno in Kabete, Kiambu County, has claimed the lives of four members of a family.

The deceased is a woman and her three children; they were all asleep when the tragedy befell.

Photos from the scene showed a house that had irredeemably been reduced to ashes.

Nyathuna ward representative Eddy Kinyanjui confirmed the incident explaining that property was also destroyed in the tragedy.

Kabete OCPD Antony Mbogoh said detectives had embarked on a probe to establish the cause of the fire.
The fire razed down the house in which the quartet was sleeping.

News of families getting wiped out in tragic fires has been common in the recent past.

A few months back, a family from a village in Runyenjes, Embu county, was in sorrow after seven of their members succumbed to burn injuries following a mysterious fire on Sunday morning.

Sources indicate that the fire killed a whole nuclear family on the dawn of a Sunday, in their 3-bedroomed house built of timber.

The victims, comprising a father, mother, three children, and two grandchildren, were all burnt beyond recognition.

The incident was confirmed by police who rushed to the scene following reports from the locals.
