The National Police Service (NPS) has clarified claims that the 2024 recruitment of servicemen and women has been opened.

In a statement dated Tuesday, January 2, the National Police Service dismissed the reports as fake news.

NPS flagged a misleading post which had been shared widely on various social media platforms announcing the alleged recruitment.

The faked poster indicated that the recruitment date had been set for Friday, January 5.

However, the National Police Service advised Kenyans against falling victim to the scheme.

"We wish to inform the public to disregard the fake news circulating on social media platforms regarding the purported recruitment into the National Police Service in January 2024," NPS stated.

According to the service, the recruitment exercise will be made public through their official social media channels and other verified media stations.

However, at the moment, the police has not announced plans to recruit new service members. The last recruitment done was for the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in November last year.

The exercise saw a large number of Kenyans express their interest in joining the disciplined forces.

KDF shortlisted 1,606 candidates to join the force as either tradesmen and women or specialist officers.

Thousands of former National Youth Service officers also showed up at the Embakasi Garrison with the prospect of being absorbed into the Kenya Defence Forces.
