The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has launched a new credit facility targeting students with a range of up to Ksh500,000.

In a notice dated Wednesday, January 3, HELB announced that the new loan facility will majorly target students in the nursing profession.

While opening the applications for the loans, HELB indicated that students advancing their nursing careers and those specialising will benefit from the new kitty.

"Application is now open for the Advanced Nursing Education Fund: flexible, affordable study loans for Nurses pursuing advanced and specialized courses in approved training institutions in Kenya," HELB announced.

Requirements

According to the notice, the Ksh500,000 loan will be payable for five years. The loan will attract an interest of 4 per cent.

Requirements for accessing the credit include a copy of an admission letter from a HELB-compliant institution, fully filled application form and a copy of the national identity card.

Applicants will also be expected to present three recent payslips copies certified by their employer.

The new fund is also expected to help Kenyan nurses to tap into different job markets abroad including in Saudi Arabia which is looking to hire over 2,500 medical professionals from the country.
