This would be the third deadly crash reported on the Nakuru-Eldoret route since December 31.

A fatality was reported from a road accident that occurred on the morning of Saturday, January 6, at a spot along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

According to the police, three Isuzu motor vehicles crashed with a Mercedes Benz trailer ferrying food supplies.

Besides the one death, several other people were severely injured in the crash; they were booked into the Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru for medical assistance.

Probing to establish the cause of the accident would be officers from the Kaptembwa Police Station.

Deadly accidents have lately been reported on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

On December 31, seven people lost their lives in a nasty accident on the highway after a trailer rammed into a 14-seater matatu at the Eveready Roundabout.

Several passengers were injured and were rushed to the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital.

According to reports, the trailer which was coming from Eldoret lost its brakes and bumped into the matatu.

Four days later, still on the same route, three people died on the spot after being caught up in a multiple-car crash at Timboroa.

The accident occurred early on Thursday, January 4, when a bus collided with three other vehicles including a lorry and a Probox.

Several other injured passengers were rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub-county Hospital for treatment.

However, two other people succumbed to the injuries bringing the number of fatalities to five.

"NPS Officers from Timboroa Police Station are responding to a tragic road traffic accident that claimed 3 lives on 04/01/2024 at about 0140 hours at Mlango Tatu area along Nakuru-Eldoret Road," police stated.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved a Mistubish bus and 3 other vehicles including a Toyota Probox. Several passengers have been rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub-county Hospital for treatment but two more unknown passengers have succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the said hospital," their statement added.

The bodies of the dead were moved to the mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
