Sonko Leaks Phonecalls Exposing Fallout With Conjestina Over Using Bus Instead of Plane

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has leaked a phonecall conversation exposing the genesis of his misunderstanding with renowned boxer Conjestina Achieng'. 

Via his social media pages, Sonko exposed details of his conversation with Conjestina's family and what led to the misunderstanding. 

From the information gathered from the phone calls, the boxer was upset after Sonko failed to secure her a plane ticket from Mombasa to Nairobi as flights were fully booked.  

Conjestina was thus compelled to use a bus from Mombasa to Nairobi while Sonko'a aides used the Standard Gauge Railway. The former governor managed to secure a last-minute plane ticket to Nairobi.

After reaching Nairobi, Conjestina reportedly showed displeasure for failing to secure a plane ticket and turned down offers from Sonko aides insisting that she wanted to go back home to Siaya.

Her son, Charlton also talked to Sonko requesting him to allow Conjestina to go back home. Sonko agreed.

"I needed to go to court and a warrant of arrest could have been issued against me if I failed. Conjestina was upset that I did not get her a plane ticket and put her on the bus. My team also travelled with SGR.

"Others were criticising and accusing me of playing PR and vipindiree. I hereby wish to respond with facts as hereunder: Kenyans, I did my best to help Conje, but her family watered down my efforts," the former governor stated.

According to their conversation, Sonko was opposed to the plans to allow Conjestina to go back home as she was still under medication. 

However, Sonko stated that he could not turn down the request from Conjestina's son. 

While in Siaya, Sonko facilitated Conjestina's alleged travel to Uganda where she was supposed to visit a prophet. But after some time, he started receiving reports that Conjestina was back to her old ways and that her health was deteriorating.

Nonetheless, Sonko promised to give Conjestina a final chance at rehabilitation.

"Fortunately, my heart is bigger than mine. At times, I fail to control it for the love I have for the people, especially the less fortunate, and I think this is the reason I initially gave Conjee the first, second, and now maybe I will be forced to give a third and final chance," he stated.

The leaked conversation and Sonko's response came after journalist Carol Radul visited Conjestina and exposed how her health had deteriorated.

This sparked uproar with a section of the people on social media accusing Sonko of neglecting the boxer.

Before their fallout, Sonko had even enlisted Conjestina as one of his employees and was on a monthly payroll.
