Three people have lost their lives and scored injured in Mandera County after a vehicle they were travelling in rolled several times as they travelled home to vote in the upcoming polls.

Confirming the Sunday afternoon incident, Mandera West Deputy County Commissioner Wycliffe Mnanda said that the accident involved one vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser.

The accident occurred along the Takaba-Banisa road in Mandera and the victims were among people being transported to Banissa constituency.

“There was an accident on Sunday at about 3pm. Three people died after a Toyota Land Cruiser they were travelling in rolled several times along the Takaba-Banisa road,” he stated.

The incident comes as many Kenyans are headed upcountry to have an opportunity of exercising their constitutional right to vote in the Tuesday polls.

IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati urged Kenyans to turn up and vote in the upcoming election adding that the electoral commission was ready to conduct the polls.

He said that it was a momentous decision in the hands of over 22 million registered voters.

“This is a momentous decision in the hands of 22,120,48 registered voters. I am calling upon every registered voter turn up and exercise their democratic right on the election day,” Chebukati said.
