The Senator rallied Nakuru Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to table an impeachment motion against Governor Kihika.

Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja is now pushing for the impeachment of Governor Susan Kihika just after less than two years in office.

On Tuesday, January 23, the Senator rallied Nakuru Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to table an impeachment motion against the governor for her conduct and ethics regarding the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital wrangles.

The Keroche Breweries founder indicated that if MCAs fail to table an impeachment, she would lobby the citizens to start collecting signatures to force her removal from office for failing to show leadership that saw patients caught in the crossfire.

"I the Senator of Nakuru County strongly condemn the attack of the hospital by the County Government of Nakuru. This shows that we have a Governor who is so inhuman and never follows the rule of law and order and never respects the courts which is an arm of the Government," she stated.

"As Nakuru people, we call upon our MCAs to draw an impeachment motion regarding the governor's conduct and ethics, failure to do so, we as Nakuru people will compel them to do so by following Article One of the constitution," Tabitha announced.

In the most recent episode, kanjo was caught on camera trying to disconnect a dialysis machine from a sick patient. He was confronted by the patient's family and escorted out of the hospital.

The Nakuru War Memorial Hospital which sits on a 24-acre parcel of land has been at the centre of an ownership dispute since October last year.

The hospital established by the country’s colonial masters in 1921 has been operating under the management of a private company since the early 1980s.

The company, Nakuru War Memorial Hospital Limited, obtained a 99-year lease in 2013, which was backdated and its expiry set for 2019.

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika in a past interview said that the directors approached the county government of Nakuru for an extension but the request was rejected.

Following the rejection, DCI arrested five suspects linked to the alleged forgery of documents used in the extension of a lease for Nakuru War Memorial Hospital.

The five suspects include two senior officials at the Ministry of Lands, two directors and a broker even as they pursue a lawyer turned politician involved in the process.

The ministry officials include Peter Nzuki, a deputy lands administration officer, and Stephen Kihengo, an assistant lands administration director.

The hospital chairman Simon Mwangi and director Roger Joslyn were also arrested alongside Kipkemboi Marindich who played the role of a broker.

Senator Tabitha lamented that the arrests left patients stranded and was inhumane thus calling for the impeachment of the governor.

She also noted that she will seek an audience with President William Ruto over Governor Kihika's leadership style.

"Further, I will also seek an audience with the head of state regarding the whole saga."
