The bus was plying the Kampala- Nairobi route when it was involved in that accident. From the photos of the crash, both the lorry and the bus were badly damaged.

The wreckage of the bus and lorry was also towed to the nearest police station and traffic was allowed to resume normally.

In a statement by Kisumu Governor, Anyang' Nyong'o questioned whether the bus was licensed to operate on the route.
