Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua is the most traveled CS in 2023. 

A survey conducted by Tifa Research has revealed that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki and his Education counterpart Ezekiel Machogu never made any foreign trip in 2023.

In the report released on Wednesday, February 7, TIFA said there is no evidence of the two CSs making international trips.

“There is no documented evidence of foreign trips linked to the roles of Kithure Kindiki (interior) and Ezekiel Machogu (education) in 2023,” TIFA stated.

On the other hand, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua was the most traveled CS followed by Public Service CS Moses Kuria, Mining CS Salim Mvurya, Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u, and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

Mutua who previously held the Foreign Affairs docket accounts for 28 percent of the travels while Kuria, Mvurya, Ndung’u, and Mudavadi followed with 16 percent, 14 percent, 13 percent, and 12 percent respectively.

On local travel, CS Kindiki holds the record for visiting the highest number of counties, having successfully covered 41 out of the 47 counties.

Most locally traveled CSs

The Interior CS is followed by Susan Nakhumicha (36), CS Zachariah Njeru (27), and CSs Florence Bore, Mudavadi, and Kuria with 26 each.

CS Mutua, Njuguna, and Chirchir are the least traveled CSs locally. Mutua has only visited six counties with Chirchir and Njuguna travelled to eleven counties.

Most of the activities were concentrated in Nairobi County with 54 percent followed by Rift Valley and Coast with 14 and 10 percent respectively.

CS Kindiki held the lowest number of home county visits followed by Susan Nakhumicha while Salim Mvurya recorded the highest number of home visit activities followed by Mithika Linturi.
