The attack came a day after CS Kuria accused the journalist of forging a story about Jacque Maribe's appointment into government.

A journalist attached to the Nation Media Group (NMG) was reportedly attacked on Friday, March 15.

Mwangi Muiruri revealed the appointment of former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe to the Public Service Ministry under CS Moses Kuria.

While denying appointing Maribe, Kuria accused Muiruri of forging a text message to suggest the appointment.

The journalist claimed he was accosted by three armed men at a spot at the Makutano Junction along the Nyeri-Nairobi highway.

Muiruri sustained injuries on the eye before losing his phone and cash to the said people.

He reported the matter to the Makutano Police Station.

The controversy about Jacque Maribe's appointment was sparked by the Public Service Commission (PSC) which denied her recruitment.

In a statement dated Thursday, March 14, PSC chairperson Anthony Muchiri dismissed claims that Maribe had been appointed as Head of Communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.

Muchiri further clarified that he had not received a request to appoint Maribe as widely reported.

"For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise," Muchiri insisted.
