The senior police officer sustained injuries on the chest and legs and died on the spot.

Narok Deputy Base Commander Calvin Ochieng has passed away after being involved in a tragic road accident.

The accident occurred on Monday, March 25 morning in the Ratili area along the Narok- Bomet Highway.

Ochieng was driving his saloon car from Bomet when he attempted to overtake a lorry but collided head-on collision with an oncoming lorry belonging to Crown Parcel.

He sustained injuries on the chest and legs and succumbed on the spot.

Narok County Police Commander Riko Ngare confirmed the accident saying they are mourning Ochieng’s death. He also sent his condolences to the Narok deputy vase commander’s family.

“We have lost the deputy base commander Narok. He was in his private vehicle when he collided head-on with a lorry. We are mourning and sending condolences to the family and the police fraternity at large,” said Ngare.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Longisa Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The accident comes a day after four people died and several were injured in an accident in the Koroma area along the Ngaru-Gatuto road in Kirinyaga County.

The tragic accident happened after the driver of a 14-seater Public Service Vehicle (PSV)belonging to Kukena Sacco lost control of the vehicle while trying to negotiate a sharp corner.

The matatu veered off the road and rolled several times killing four passengers on the spot while several others sustained injuries.

The survivors were rushed to the Kerugoya County Referral Hospital for medical attention.
