Former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya joined other leaders in lashing out at the Ministry of Health for supposedly failing to handle the ongoing doctors' strike.
Speaking at a funeral service on Saturday, March 30, the former county boss accused CS Nakhumicha for going hard on the medics at the expense of addressing their issues.
Oparanya went on to disparage Nakhumicha over her academic qualifications, suggesting that it was irrational for her to harass professionals who excelled in their areas of expertise.

"This doctors' issues must be addressed. You don't threaten people who work in government facilities by day, and later report to their private stations where they make more money. The CS should know she's dealing with chaps who scored A and A-. They are clever than her, I don't know what she got," said Oparanya.
Joining in the calls for the doctors' industrial action to be dealt with was Ugunja MP and leader of Minority in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi.
Wandayi laid the blame on the government MPs for failing to devise a supplementary budget to facilitate the posting of intern medics and the promotion of doctors.
"I want to challenge the Kenya Kwanza MPs who are the majority to summon a special sitting so that we can pass a budget to cater for the doctors' needs.
On her part, Nakhumicha held on to her stance saying that the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) the doctors want implemented was signed in 2017 when she was not around, seeming to ask for more time to handle the issues.
