A police officer has been stabbed severally following a bitter exchange with his wife at home.

According to the police report, the said officer was on leave when the incident occurred at his home in the Kiplombe area in Eldama Ravine.

The officer attached to SOG Wargadud in Mandera County died while receiving treatment at Mercy Mission Hospital Eldama Ravine.

The deceased's brother was the one who first responded and visited the scene of the accident where he found the officer lying in a pool of blood and deep pain.

He then rushed to inform his colleague who then rushed him to a nearby hospital.

However, the officer died while receiving treatment due to the multiple stab wounds inflicted on his body.

"At the deceased house, blood stains were seen splashed on the floor and walls of their bedroom," the report read in part.

"Recovered is a blood-stained black handle panga with blood stain suspected to be the killer weapon," it added.

The police officer visited the scene of the crime and arrested the 28-year-old wife of Somali origin.

The incident comes just a day after the wife of an officer attached to the Presidential Escort Unit shot herself during a domestic quarrel.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital in Lang'ata Nairobi and stabilised. Their daughter who tried to intervene was also hurt during the altercation.
