You Won't Go Far - Uhuru Kenyatta's Message to Political Traitors

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta has taken on political leaders he termed as traitors.

Uhuru was among the high-profile guests attending the episcopal ordination for bishops elect Simon Peter Kamomoe and Wallace Ng'ang'a at St Mary's Msongari in Westlands, Nairobi.

Speaking at the function, Uhuru lashed at unnamed people he suggested betrayed him. 

He pointed at the tent housing politicians and ranking officials in the current regime.

"There is no betrayal in the church. When you talk with the clergy well, they will help you and will go far in your projects. Betrayal is on the other side. But we tell the traitors that even Judas betrayed Jesus but later left the silver pieces and went to hand himself," fired Uhuru. 

Other leaders in attendance were, among others, National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Public Service CS Moses Kuria, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai and Governor Johnson Sakaja of Nairobi.

Uhuru backed former prime minister Raila Odinga in the 2022 elections.

Raila would however be routed by President William Ruto who had fallen out with Uhuru, his then boss.

Uhuru and Ruto had fostered political camaraderie since 2013 when they were first elected into office.

They maintained the same in 2017when they were re-elected, until 2018 when Uhuru joined forces with Raila under the historic handshake that cemented their newfound friendship.

Meanwhile, Ruto sidelined himself, coming up with a new party with which he was elected.
